UK Ultra Winter on the Downs The UK Ultra Winter of the Downs event includes a 100 mile and 55 mile race around the trails of East Sussex and West Sussex from 5 to 6 December 2025. Both distances are on single loop courses that start and finish in the seaside town of Eastbourne. The views are spectacular, and the terrain is a combination of grass trails, farm tracks and woodland/chalk paths. They are generally very runnable with rolling hills with some longer, steeper climbs. The Friday 100 mile runners begin over Beachy Head and the famous Seven Sisters before heading up towards Plumpton and out towards Findon along the South Downs Way. The route then loops back around towards Lewes before finishing back in Eastbourne. On Saturday, the 55 mile runners begin over Beachy Head and the famous Seven Sisters before heading up towards Mount Harry, Blackcap and Lewes along the South Downs Way. The route then passes Mount Caburn, through Glynde and Firle before returning to Eastbourne. Both routes are marked with regular, well stocked aid stations.
